80 Packs, No Full Art Umbreon – Pokémon TCG Pocket
I’ve been waiting months for this moment—the release of Eevee Grove in Pokémon TCG Pocket. But after opening 80 packs, I still haven’t pulled a single copy of the Full Art Umbreon. It’s the one card I wanted most, and the game seems determined to keep it out of reach.
What have I pulled? Pretty much everything else: all eight other full-art Eevee and Eeveelution cards, multiple duplicates of several, both versions of Flareon ex, the Immersive Eevee, and even the golden Eevee Bag. On paper, that’s extremely lucky. But when the one card you’re chasing refuses to show up, the whole pile of rares feels like a consolation prize.
The Umbreon Curse
This isn’t the first time I’ve suspected Umbreon cards are disproportionately rare. Look at the infamous Moonbreon from Evolving Skies, or this year’s Umbreon ex in Prismatic Evolutions. History suggests these dark-type favorites become high-demand chase cards. I’m not claiming conspiracy—just that it feels like the algorithm knows what I want and is holding out.
Digital Packs, Same Frustration
Eevee Grove is the digital equivalent of Prismatic Evolutions, minus the scalper drama at physical stores. I prefer casually opening packs on my phone without the chaos. Except, you know, when the digital packs also refuse to give me the one card I care about. I’ve been pulling cards since the ‘90s, so I understand the gambling nature of this hobby. Most of the time you lose. But knowledge doesn’t stop the sting.
Rationality vs. Resignation
